  • Currently, over 86,000 children reside in foster care in California

    Many are taken from their parents and placed in foster care. Some children eventually return to the care of their parents, others are adopted, and still others remain in foster care indefinitely. Unfortunately, coming under the protection of social services, does not guarantee that a child’s troubles are over. Too often, children’s best interests take a back seat to local fiscal and political concerns, and to the demands of a huge and over burdened bureaucracy.

    Advokids works to find ways to ease a child’s oftentimes difficult journey through the foster care system. When a child is placed in foster care, their world is rocked and forever changed. Our goal is to provide comfort, enrichment, and stability whenever possible.

    We call on you to join us in our efforts because every foster child in California belongs to every one of us! We must all understand who they are and take responsibility for making their lives secure and enriched. If you are a professional with expertise in education; public health; mental health; child placement, custody or dependency law; or any other element of child advocacy, join Advokids referral panel of professionals who offer their services for the benefit of children on a no fee or reduced fee basis.     
    2. Donate your time and talent. Organize a dinner, a race, an auction or any other fundraising event for the benefit of Advokids and the children whose lives we strive to improve.      
    3. Inform yourself and promote public awareness about the plight of children in foster care and work to improve their situation. Invite an Advokids representative to speak with your group.
